Wow! Busy Day.

I didn't sleep all that well last night. Brain wouldn't shut down I guess. There was thunder around so Magic was barking. Scott stayed up with her all night. There was a baby raccoon around at about 3:30 this morning making alot of noise.
I finally decided to just get up and make coffee and putter around quietly until it was time to shower and head down to town to the bank, etc. I had to buy some new jeans, dress pants, tops and safety shoes. I just couldn't face Monday having to put those steel caps on my dress shoes to clickety clack across the warehouse to the office.
Mark's Work Wearhouse didn't have my size so I ended up in Walmart to get them. There is definitely nothing sexy about these things but they will do.
Then Kainnon and I came home and offloaded the car and headed up to friend's. They are in the process of setting up a new shop for their business and they needed help. I helped paint the office and Scott and Kainnon were building shelves to store upholstery etc.
Finally got home around 6 p.m. Fed the dogs here. Fed the dogs next door (neighbour has gone away for the weekend), vacuumed the living room and poured myself a glass of red grape juice.
Now I am going to pay some bills, have a shower and possibly get some crocheting done.
Hm, I guess I should eat dinner at some point as well.

Well off to work again this morning. The dogs woke me up at 6:30 a.m., the old girl (not me) needed to go out. I decided to stay up, check email, update meditation, etc.
I put my clothes out that I am going to wear last night so I just have to shower, etc.
I realized just now that I didn't even touch a crochet hook yesterday.....that's really strange.
It's Friday! Have a great one.

Made it!!!

Well I made it through the first day on the new job.
My head feels like it is going to explode...LOL
I am on information overload.
It sounds like it is going to be alot of fun though.

Crochet time to be reduced

Well my crochet time is going to be reduced dramatically effective tomorrow.

That's right folks. As of tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. I will be employed yet again.

I have been off work for 9 months now and while I enjoyed the time off, I really need to get working again. Both for my bank account and my own sanity....LOL

Wish me luck in my first day on the job!!!

Top done

Here is the top from Crochet Today! finished. It is just a tad too big for me so it will be donated to charity.

I have started it again with a smaller hook. We shall see how this one turns out. This cotton is really nice. A strand of white and a strand of blue. I think it will look nice with a white tank top under it with jeans.

Been keeping busy with the property as well. The front of the house was starting to get overgrown with new little trees/weeds. So I have started cleaning that up.

I taught myself something

I finally taught myself Broomstick lace. Wow! Let me tell you, this method of crocheting is not fast. This scarf took me about 8 hours to make. I used WW yarn and 150 + 1 chains to start. Next time (if there is a next time) I will use 250 + 1 to make the scarf longer. I used this tutorial to teach myself. Next I will teach myself Hairpin Lace....maybe.

Another finished object. All I had to do with this one was attach a few more squares and edge it. But it is done now!!!

I finished the pillow. Isn't it cute?

The next project, which is going on my hook in a couple of minutes is out of the new issue of Crochet Today!

I love this. I am going to make it in varigated cotton. Blues, taupes and white. Very pretty!

Meditation of the day

When I read the meditation for today it really moved me. I love the thought of letting go of the past and moving on.
For an alcoholic, this is especially true. We cannot change the past, what we did or whom we hurt. All we can do is make amends, say "I'm sorry" and move on.

On a crochet note. I did finish another UFO. I will take pics and post them later. Of course I have made a few hats as well.

Unfinished projects day

So I decided to make today finish the unfinished projects day. I completed this scarf.

Kainnon and I started this blanket ages ago. I just had to sew a few more squares on and do the edging and Voila! finished project.

I made this quite a while ago as well. Right now I am making a back and I will make it into a pillow.

Next on the list is another blanket that has most of the squares sewn together already and the ones that aren't are already edged. So that makes the next item on the list an easy one.

Crochet ((finally))

This is what I finished over the weekend.
One baby blanket....this one has fleece in the middle and is Edgerydoo'd.

I had started a bunny filet blanket at the WWKIP on Saturday. When I got home I realized that I was going to roast to death if I continued to make it. So what I am going to do is make a whole bunch of bunny filet squares, edge them in white and then join them together. That way I only have to sweat to death once, while I am joining the squares.

My father has just left Germany and is on a cruise on the Kiel Canal on the way to the Netherlands with my mom and a few friends.

On Old Age

Old Age, I decided, is a gift

I am now, probably for the first time in my life, the person I have always wanted to be. Oh, not my body! I sometime despair over my body, the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt. And often I am taken aback by that old person that lives in my mirror (who looks like my mother!), but I don't agonize over those things for long.

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become more kind to myself, and lesscritical of myself. I've become my own friend.

I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon?

I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60&70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love .. I will.

I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set .
They, too, will get old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day. (If I feel like it)

This is Sarah's Pineapple Scarf pattern that is found in the 2008 Pattern A Day calendar. This pattern worked up really quickly. The pattern doesn't tell you how much yarn you will need. I started off with a 4 oz. skein and had enough left over to make another hat.

I am in a bit of a crochet slump right now. I don't know what big project I want to work on. So I will carry on making little things until I figure that out. Any suggestions????
