These blankets are the best way to use up scraps. I used the "crazy stitch" for both of these.

I can't remember the name of this pattern right off the top of my head. But it looks like a giant doily to me.

Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe

This is the recipe I use....honestly it makes the BEST cookies in the world.

Preheat oven to 375F

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1-1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup unsalted butter or margarine

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla

Mix dry ingredients together. Beat butter in a medium bowl until creamy. Beat sifted ingredients into butter until blended. In a small bowl, beat egg with vanilla. Mix beaten egg mixture into butter mixture until blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop teaspoonfuls of batter, spaced well apart, onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 minutes or until lightly browned.

Makes about 36 cookies.

Well this one is as done as I can get it. I can't get this colour yarn anymore and I ran out....so here it is. It is a fair size though and is really pretty (even unfinished).

This is the Medallion pattern....so pretty.

And here is a blanket made of squares that Sally gave me to make into a blanket. Voila!!!!

So after I finished this one I went rooting around to see what yarn would inspire me to start another blanket. Guess what I found?!?!?! Yep, you guessed it....3 more blankets that I haven't finished....lol
So this is apparently my mission for the week...to finish all the unfinished blanket that I have lying around. Then and only then, will I start a new one....at least that's the plan for now.

This is a really pretty blanket that I made a few years ago. I think it would be really pretty on a baby's crib.

Hats and scarves for the Evergreen Centre

My workplace (Johnson Insurance) is having a coat drive....gently used coats to be donated to the Evergreen Centre (Yonge Street Mission). I thought it would be a great idea for Casting off the Cold to get our name out there so I asked Sally if CotC would be willing to donate hats/scarves to go along with the coats. She said yes. So I picked up 20 hat/scarf sets from her last week. Along with the 20 sets that the members of CotC donated I have managed to get quite a few sets done myself.
This is a scarf that is already done and I am working on the hat to match it now.

The following are some example of sets from members of Casting off the Cold.

I will be taking all of these into work on Wednesday and personally giving them to the woman who is organizing this drive at work. We are going to sit down together and write a letter to go along with the donation to the Evergreen Centre mentionning that it was a joint effort between Johnson Insurance and the members of Casting off the Cold.

The request is now in for baby jackets and lots of them. 6 girl and 6 boy ones. I posted a girl one a while ago so that one will be on the "for sale" table at the Richmond Hill Festival in June. I am working on this one right now. Of course, I never follow a pattern completely....lol. I usually throw in my own little twist. This one I am alternating rows of DC and Xstitch for the body. The pattern calls for all dc right down to the last few rows. I will post a pic when I am done. I think I will do a hat to match as well.

Casting off the Cold has been asked to make baby blankets from very small to preemie and slightly larger sizes by the Markham Stouffville Hospital Bereavement Program.

I have been a bad blogger again.
I have been crocheting some but not a lot. Have a few hat/scarf sets done. I have to put a few more squares on a blanket I am working on for Casting off the Cold. Our big donation day is coming up at the beginning of November so I really need to stop cleaning the house, doing laundry etc and get cracking on some crocheting....LOL

This weekend I spent most of the weekend making tomato butter...a family recipe that apparently we had all run out of. I don't think it was my turn again but hey...I made it.

I was let go from my job about three weeks ago since my job had been "eliminated" due to "restructuring". I started working at Forsythe Family Farms on a seasonal basis. I need to find a full time job really soon that has benefits as mine ran out on September 17th.
